NYFW Part 3: FITTING DAY- From Panic to Pure Magic
Saturday was FITTING DAY ✨ The day things started to feel real and honestly, a little surreal. I woke up early and grabbed my morning essentials: Gregory’s coffee, a smoothie, and a buttery croissant. Fuelled and ready, we took an Uber to Canoe Studios in Chelsea, and the second we arrived, I was hit with the magnitude of it all. NYFW was in full swing. It felt INSANE, in the best way.
Canoe Studios was everything I hoped for: bright, airy, with huge windows overlooking the Hudson River. The vibe was chic and peaceful, a perfect spot for all the designers to come together. We had only 30 minutes to set up our tables, and space was tight. I was suddenly hyper-aware of how little room we had for my pieces. But somehow, we made it work and it looked beautiful.
Tayler was on fire that day, capturing content, getting the models’ Instagram handles, emailing influencers, taking photos. She was my rock through it all, and I couldn't have done it without her.
Then the stylist came over to our table and start styling our jewelry on the models. I’ll never forget that moment. When they picked out my pieces for the runway, I was just in shock. This is MY jewelry being chosen for a runway show at NYFW. Holy. Shit. 😭
Models and stylists started expressing how much they loved my pieces. It was so validating and made me feel like I was exactly where I was meant to be. After that, we got selected again by two more designers.
The stylist helped create the look, while I gave my suggestions and helped put the jewelry on the models. There was a bit of a rush to get everything done, and we had to get creative. I didn’t have enough earrings for the third runway show, so we had to pull pieces from an earlier show.
With our last collaboration we used almost all my jewelry. Some models even wore necklaces as bracelets, talk about versatility! By the end of the day, I had THREE shows. I was going to walk the runway behind my handmade jewelry brand three times. And in total, 90 pieces of jewelry from my collection made it to the NYFW runway. It was a dream come true!
By the time the fitting ended around 5:30, we were all drained but in the best possible way. To celebrate, we went to Los Tacos in Chelsea Market. The veggie taco was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had!
NYFW hadn’t even officially started and already, I saw my own pieces being styled on models, sharing space with other incredible designers from around the world, and feeling a little more like I belonged. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Coming up in Part Four: The official shows, runway moments, and everything that made this journey unforgettable. Stay tuned 💫
